| Welcome to Toonkunstkoor Utrecht |
|
The Toonkunstkoor Utrecht is a large amateur choir performing at the highest level, and is based in the city of Utrecht. Founded in 1829, it has a rich history and we are proud to say that Toonkunstkoor Utrecht will continue to have a vibrant future. We are able, even in the face of declining subsidies, to perform larger choral works, with orchestra and soloists, often in the concert hall of Utrecht’s Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn. The concerts we perform include the great works of well known composers but we especially enjoy presenting works relatively unknown. We also commission and perform new compositions written especially for Toonkunstkoor Utrecht, from national and international composers. As well as our regular concert programme, we have a valued tradition of marking Eastertide in the City of Utrecht, through our performance of one of the Passions by J.S. Bach, every two years. The choir continually strives to maintain its high quality as a priority, through an active programme of auditioning, regular voice testing for all, and vocal training courses for new members. We are actively working on the rejuvenation of our choir and over the past year have welcomed many new younger members, joining our established members in carrying forward the tradition and reputation of Toonkunstkoor Utrecht.
We have been very fortunate that our music director and conductor, together with our accompanist, have both been connected with us for many years, helping to maintain our standards and build our choir, with weekly rehearsals that are enjoyable and stimulating for us all.
With my best wishes,
